Bookkeeper, tax accountant or CPA?
Plenty of owners assume their CPA handles everything, and end up paying CPA rates for bookkeeping. The three jobs are different.
- Bookkeeper
- Keeps the day-to-day record: categorizes transactions, reconciles accounts and prepares the monthly reports. This is Prairie Ledger.
- Tax accountant
- Prepares and files your business tax returns and keeps you compliant.
- CPA
- Tax strategy, financial consulting and audits.
Prairie Ledger keeps the records clean and accurate every month, so your CPA or tax accountant can focus on tax preparation and strategy.
About Kristen Orr
Kristen has spent more than ten years in accounting and bookkeeping, including time as accounting director at a local healthcare facility. She co-owns Elite Automotive & Diesel in Basehor, and she still keeps its books.
Prairie Ledger grew out of a bad experience. When Elite needed years of bookkeeping finished to get a loan on its first commercial space, the person hired to do it left the books worse than before. Kristen cleaned them up herself: six years behind, and nearly two years of work to put right.
That is why she started a bookkeeping business for other owners, and why she works the way she does.
- I reconcile thoroughly.
- I communicate clearly.
- I don't cut corners.
